Summer marches on!

Hello everyone!
Not a lot has been happening, but I thought I would write a bit anyway. (To set the mood I am listening to 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' by the Beatles) Any-who, the job search continues. That's been my main focus over the past few weeks. Hopefully something will happen soon, but I still have a while until everything gets scary. I do feel bad, however, since Brandon works so hard. He's still attacking two jobs at full steam. The benefit of my being home a lot is that my house has never been in better shape. I spend a lot of time dusting and watching my tomato plants grow! It has also been nice to reconnect with old friends and spend more time with my best girlfriends. ('Strawberry Fields' just came on)

Brandon's knee is healing slowly but surely, though not as quickly as we and the doctors had hoped. He still has valient dreams of playing basketball and softball again in the fall but the thought of that freaks me out. For those who don't know, his knee was injured playing in a basketball league this past spring. He tore 5 places in his knee, including his ACL. Please discourage him from playing on a team agaian next time you see him. I don't know why he thinks playing Scrabble with me isn't a sport! ('A Day In The Life' just came on, which just happens to be my second favorite song in the whole world) He'll have to be satisfied with Fantasy Football in the meantime. Ugh... that is starting soon.

Well, like I said, not much is happening. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers about the job thing. (I leave you with 'All You Need Is Love' playing. How appropriate!)

Love you all!

Summer so far

Hello friends!
So much has been happening lately with Brandon & me, and it was becoming ever more difficult to keep everyone posted - yes even with e-mail, Facebook, etc. So, I decided to start this blog. I will offer you a brief recap.

Brandon had knee surgery in April as a result of a heroic basketball move. We continue to deal with the physical and lifestyle results of that. If you see Brandon tell him to wear his knee brace!

Our summer has been good. My cousins (teenage boys!!!) were here for 3 weeks so that kept us really busy! We watched baseball, went to movies, played video games and ended the whole thing with a camping trip. I was the proud owner of a head to toe sunburn. Not just any sunburn, mind you, but a blistering and all encompassing sunburn. But now I have a smokin' tan, so I suppose it was worth it!

Now comes the shocking news... I turned 30! I know, I know, take a moment to mourn my twenties with me. Does this mean I'm a grown up? The mortgage and the car payment had yet to convince me, so I guess this may be the final nail in the proverbial coffin. I did get a fabulous surprise par-tay complete with both Italian food AND a donkey pinata. What more could a girl ask for? Well, I'm glad I asked. Mom gave me ticket to see The Cure. That was the best present ever. I love you Robert Smith!

The day after my plunge into adulthood I was told that my department was being shut down at work. Yes, that means I am looking for a new job. BOO! After coming out of a shock induced coma I have jumped into the job hunt. Luckily I have until the beginning of September before my job is permanently gone. If you hear of any job openings let me know! Say some prayers in the meantime. I talk lightheartedly about it but in all reality it has been a very difficult couple of weeks. We'll survive. We always do. I could not get through it without my precious husband, awesome parents and my irreplaceable friends Jaime, Amber, Chrisy & Holly.

The time off has been nice. Brandon & I met Lisa Garza from Next Food Network Star this past Saturday. Despite the bad rep she has on t.v. she was so lovely, warm and funny during the time she spent with us. Go Lisa!!

Brandon is still working two jobs. He is the best husband in the whole entire world and I am lucky to go through this world with him.

I hope to post often, so check back. There's always something going on with us!

tata,
Jamie
